2 Questions

Post by phototaker »

I have just done a clean install of Windows on my PC this time with version 10.

Every time I turn machine on I'm asked for permission to run Everything. Is there any way to give permission to be able to run automatically every time as I'm the only person who used the PC? Would I have the same option to run all programs automatically every time as administrator?

Is it possible to plug in several External passport drives which are formatted NTFS & have the program save the index for use when the drives aren't plugged in? So if a search shows a file on a drive that isn't attached to PC at that moment it will tell you which one it's located on. If so how is this done?

Thanks in advance

Please install the Everything service and disable run as administrator for Everything:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab.
  • Check Everything service.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Click OK.

You would need to use the true administrator account.

Please try the Everything 1.4 beta:
  • Plug in the external drive.
  • In "Everything" 1.4, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab.
  • Select the external drive.
  • Click Include in database.
  • Click OK.
The external volume will stay indexed, even when removed.

If you wish to use Everything 1.3 please have a look at keep offline volumes.

Sadly I cannot install the Everything 1.4beta. Regular installation fails with strange error message (cannot copy, ....) Triied many compatibility options on the compatibility installer and they failed as well.

GOOD NEWS I did a complete uninstall (with the program Soft Organizer) and then installation went fine! :)
