I used Everything for the first time this morning, after installing the latest beta yesterday. But it failed to find full results for my search:

Failed to find an obvious hit
Re: Failed to find an obvious hit
Thanks for the post Terrypin,
Do you have exclude hidden and/or system files enabled from Tools -> Options -> Exclude?
If GPS+GPX files was once hidden and unhidden, then its possible Everything wouldn't see the change to this file.
The NTFS monitors may have encountered an error, see if they are still running by creating a new folder and seeing if it shows up in Everything.
If you haven't exited Everything yet, please terminate Everything from the task manager and re-run Everything in debug verbose mode:
Does Everything find the file now?

- Terminate Everything.exe from the task manager.
- From a command prompt, navigate to your Everything folder.
- Run Everything with -debug -verbose > out.txt
Everything.exe -debug -verbose > out.txt - After Everything has shown some results, please send me your out.txt in your Everything folder

No, and never have used that option.
If you haven't exited Everything yet...
Literally seconds before your post, I closed the beta version and re-installed Version 1.4.1.773b (x64). It gave me the same error as before but this time still apparently finished. On running, during 'Updating database', it gave me this message:
I accepted the default and it has now finished updating.
Trying my search for 20161102TurnersHill-B-u correctly found all the results
But, of course, that leaves me still expecting the tedious db updates I was hoping to fix!

Re: Failed to find an obvious hit
What error was that?It gave me the same error as before but this time still apparently finished.
What options did you check in the installer?
Sounds like the Everything service is failing to install correctly:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Check Everything service.
- Click OK.
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Is the Everything service checked or a square check?
