Does indexing resume from where it stopped?

Post by burgundy »

I have a large USB drive (2TB with a lot of small files) which seems to take along time to index.

If I unplug the drive or close down Everything before the indexing is completed then then will Everything save the index created so far?

I am hoping that when the drive is re-inserted then Everything does not have to start all over again.

No, Everything does not remember partially indexed volumes.

In Everything 1.3, adding or removing a volume from the index will cause all indexes to be rescanned.

In Everything 1.4, adding or removing a volume from the index will only rescan the affected index.
In Everything 1.4, you can keep offline volumes in the index from Tools -> Options -> NTFS -> Uncheck Auto remove offline volumes.

Thank you for the info.

That feature in 1.4 for single index scanning sounds great! Is the 1.4 beta pretty stable now?

I prefer a glitch-free experience and usually stay away from most betas but sometimes a beta gets stable enough to be a production version.
