Hi,
I'm new to Everything but I'm really impressed with it. I'd like to install it on a network server, index network shares, and then use ETP from other PC's to access it. This works fine however, then the users connect they see the entire folder/file list. If they try and select a file they have no access to then they can't open it but I don't want them to be able to see the folders at all.
I have access based enumeration configured on the shared drives which Everything is indexing and was hoping that this would prevent standard users from seeing the entire folder structure but this is not the case.
Is there any way around this?
Restrict search results based on user permissions
Re: Restrict search results based on user permissions
Hi,
Thanks for confirming this. I realise now that the database is created with the access/view the user has that creates it. Hence, I've ran it while logged on as Administrator so the resulting DB shows all folders to whichever users access it.
I suppose the only way around this is for each user to have their own database, created individually.
