want to never search folder names, only file names

Is it possible to only see files that match the search string, and not folders? I tried to set up an "*" exclude on folders only in tools>options>exclude but it did not seem to have an effect. Thanks.

I have implemented custom search filters and the search command file: for the next release of "Everything".

You might like to try this now with the latest alpha release of "Everything".

You can make "Everything" never search folder names and only file names with custom search filters.

To make a custom search filter to search files only:

• In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Filters tab.
• Click New.
• Set the Filter name to: Files only.
• Click OK.
• Make sure Files only is selected in the search filters list.
• Set the search filter to: file:
• Click OK.

To make "Everything" always search for files only with your custom filter:

• In "Everything", from the Search menu, click Filter -> Files only.

To show all files and folders again:

• In "Everything", from the Search menu, click Filter -> None.
