Well, I started the app, I tipe a search term (a folder in my computer), and when I hit enter, nothing happens.
I didn't find nothing in the help menu to solve this.
So how does this work ?
It just dosen't work
Re: It just dosen't work
Is your HDD NTFS formatted? It will not work with FAT32 formatted drives.

Re: It just dosen't work
Are there any errors reported in the Errorlog.txt file in your "Everything" installation folder?
Re: It just dosen't work
I'm "suddenly" appear to be having similar problem as Arlechin55
App starts, but no longer indexes files. It had been running well for months prior to this.
First it was not invoking UAC. And as a result it was not able to create the DB file. I went in to the "Program File" location and granted full access to my "user" ID. Now app starts with no error, but still no index
Then I saw in the FAQ (6.2?) to enable "check media" and "enable USN Journal Logging". Check media is turning on, but when I try to "enable USN Journal Logging" I keep getting error "... Failed to open volume \\.\c:" or ".\f". Here is clip from error log:
09-12-31 7:32:30 PM: Everything 1.2.1.371: d:\dev\everything\src\mu.h(534): mu::OpenVolume(): CreateFileW(): GetLastError(): 5: Failed to open volume \\.\C:
Something has changed on my system since Dec 16 because that is the last date in log before the regional date format was changed. I didn't change it. Must be gremlins.
Great tool, I use it all day long, hope to get it working again, soon!

"Everything" does not have administrator privileges.09-12-31 7:32:30 PM: Everything 1.2.1.371: d:\dev\everything\src\mu.h(534): mu::OpenVolume(): CreateFileW(): GetLastError(): 5: Failed to open volume \\.\C:
Please make sure "Everything" has administrative privileges.
You will need to re-include your volumes.
To re-include your volumes:
- In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Volume tab.
- For each volume in the Local NTFS volumes list:
- Check Check Media.
- Check Enable USN Journal Logging.
- Check Include in database.
- Check Monitor changes.
- Click OK.
