File Size information, extract from database, possible ?

Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to get file size information out of the database file ?

The reason I ask is because one of my HDD's has crashed,
but luckily I had scanned it with "Everything" a while back,
so the information is still in the database.

I've already extracted the database to a efu file with the "db2efu" program found here on the forum.
But that only saves the file names and file paths to the efu file.

So while it's great that I can see what files I've lost,
it would be great to get the file sizes information also.

Easiest would be to start "Everything" and just look at the HDD in there,
but normally as soon as I do that it scans and I'll loose the HDD,
because "Everything" deletes it from the database because not connected.
(by the way it's still an old version, I have a new version as well, that supports offline drives)
So I don't think there's a way around that.

So is it possible to get the file size information out of the "everything.db" file somehow.
Or isn't that information not stored in the database file ?

db2efu will output the file size information if it was indexed.
Sounds like you had an old verison of Everything that does not index file sizes (or you had disabled file size indexing?).

Yeah it's an old version, I'll check later, I'm not on my pc now.

But inside the program, the filesizes were always visible.

But when I open the program now, it will probably delete that HDD from the database, because it isn't connected anymore, am I right ?
Maybe there is a way to get the filesize still, who knows...

Please make a backup of your Everything.db as Everything does like to recreate this file if it is out of date.

db2efu will report your Everything.db version. What version do you have?
