What is the point of the File List Filename collumn

Post by vsub »

Just a simple question

Opening a filelist just shows the name of the file list on every row...same thing on every row(the filelist name is also displayed at the right side of the status bar which makes it even more confusing)
I thought maybe everything can load multiple file lists but if that's true how?

That column comes in handy if you add multiple filelists to your Everything index (Menu:Tools > Options > Indexes > Filelists )

Filelists are most often used for static content, like CD's and DVD's.
When you add multiple CD's, the path of filenamses will all be shown as E:\folder\file.txt. The File List FileName column makes it possible to find out that E:\... is on DVD_001.efu, so you can just grab DVD001.

Everything is full of surprises! :)

One other positive surprise (it was to me): If you update an .EFU filelist that was added to the index, it will automatically update the database with the contents of that filelist.

This option can be (de-)activated when adding the .efu to the index ("Monitor changes")
