Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
Hey, I'm trying to figure out how to do something using Everything. At one point, I was able to use Everything to create a visual representation of what directories were taking up the most space in a specified drive. It had varying sizes of boxes representing how much of the used space they took up. However, I cannot for the life of me remember how I found this feature. Can anyone please help me out, and tell me how to access this again? Thank you.
Re: Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
To enable folder sizes in Everything:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Indexes tab on the left.
- Check Index folder size.
- Click OK.
Re: Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
Hi,
Thank you, but this isn't really the solution I was looking for. I remember using this program to visualize these results in what looked like squares of varying sizes, representing the file size they were. You could click on the boxes, and it would show the largest files within the location you selected.
I can't figure out how I got the program to display the information in that way, or if an update removed this feature.

Re: Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
Everything has never had this feature.
Maybe you are thinking of WinDirStat WizTree?

Hi Void,
I took a look at the programs I have installed, and I could not find TreeSize, or anything that indexes files other than Everything. I distinctly remember there being orange-ish boxes used, in the same color scheme as Everything uses.
Does Everything have some sort of plugin feature that I'm overlooking? I honestly don't know what I used before, if this is not the case.

Re: Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
You remember wrong. Everything doesn't do that.
Instead, forget about WinDirStat, TreeSize etc. and use WizTree.
It uses "Everything technology" to scan your disk(s) very fast and can show a treemap (your "orange boxes")

Re: Trying to Find File Size Visualization Feature
Alright, thank you for the help. I'll use WizTree.
I suppose whatever I managed to do before will forever remain a mystery, haha. Thank you again for the help. I appreciate the support.
