Hi!
When the search bar is left blank, it seems Everything simply displays everything it has indexed. I was curious and wondered if that is the same thing as simply typing *.* in the search field instead, so I tried it.
The result was that substantially fewer files were shown.
What is the difference between the *.* and simply leaving the search field blank?
Thanks!
*.* vs leaving the field blank
Re: *.* vs leaving the field blank
*.* = matches filenames that contain a dot (.)
* = match all filenames.
blank = match all filenames.
* = match all filenames.
blank = match all filenames.

Thank you - that makes so much sense given how wildcards work.
By the way - Everything is the best program ever. I just had it index our entire shared disk here at work and it is easier than ever to find work related files now. I've been using Everything at home for some time and I'm so happy it can index network shares! Great job!
