Board loses login
Board loses login
In the last few weeks I often I have to login again.
I have to kill the cookie of voidtools.com to get the login stored again for some time.
This was not a problem some time ago and I don't have this problem in similar boards.

Re: Board loses login
Maybe something corrupting (or wiping) your cookie?
Also, (I'd think) if there is an update to the board itself, that might invalidate everyone's login state?
(Pretty sure I've stayed logged in of late.)

Re: Board loses login
No, there is no tool installed which would manipulate cookies.
Browser is actual Firefox 84.0 but the problem was also in previous versions.
I don't have this problem on any other board, and I have many such logins.
So I don't expect any local PC problem.
Re: Board loses login
Doesn't sound familiar to me (also Firefox, but older version).
If it helps: I don't login automatically. Browser remembers my login/password combiantion

Re: Board loses login
I have double checked the forums cookie settings and they appear correct from this guide.
Cookie secure is disabled.
Are you accessing this forum with http or https?
Are you accessing the forum via forum.voidtools.com or voidtools.com/forum?
Is your IP changing between sessions?
My sessions expire every day... I'll look into this some more..

It was http but I changed it now to https to see if that changes anything.void wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 10:29 pm I have double checked the forums cookie settings and they appear correct from this guide.

Using www.voidtools.com/forum
IP is assigned by my provider and may be changed some times.
Re: Board loses login
Even a useragent change will usually invalidate logins.
So if you spoof your UA...

No user agent or anything else installed.therube wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 7:55 pm Even a useragent change will usually invalidate logins.

Since I changed the connection to https I never loosed the login.
We will see if it stays so
Re: Board loses login
I might now be running into this.
Win10, SeaMonkey 2.53.7b1.
In this instance, I do not have myself "always logged in" (i.e., at some point login would expire, & I'd have to log back in, but this is different).
I believe it has to do with the &sid=... that is generated?
It's something like...
I "log in"
UN/PW are (seemingly) accepted (no notification otherwise)
but once the screen refreshes, instead of seeing my UN, I still see the Login "button"
I then "log in" again
at which point I may or may not be logged in
if I am logged in (say from the second try)
if I then back-arrow, back-arrow (kind of thing) to "active topics" (http://www.voidtools.com/forum/search.p ... ive_topics)
Oh, you know what, as I just typed that - I see, "http:", so that is the issue.
My "topmost" if you will, page, is http://... & when I went from actually being logged in, I went from https: to http: & with that login was "lost".
So it is not &sid=, it is http: vs https:.
Neat.

Re: Board loses login
Since switching to the https link I never lost the forum login again.
