Highlight hidden file like Windows does

Post by VarunAgw »

If some file is hidden under Windows (and I have enabled show hidden files), it is shown different (I don't know the right word but with white layer or something). So if there are two files with same extension, you can easily decide which one is hidden just by looking at it.

Everything doesn't show them differently. It is very helpful in case I want to delete a partially downloaded file, along with some other cases.

I use the term "Ghost" or 50% transparent icons.

Added to my TODO list: ghost icons of hidden files.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey, I just wanted to bump this as I didn't see this feature in the 1.5 alpha, hope you don't forget this for the massive release : )

At least on the new dark theme, selected item's icon looks like a ghost icon, but I'm sure you can figure something out.

Thank you for feedback loleb94093,

I have added an ini setting icon_blend_hidden to the latest Everything 1.5 alpha.

Enabling this setting will show the icon or thumbnail with 50% transparency when the result list item has the hidden attribute.

To enable blending of hidden items:
  • In Everything 1.5, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /icon_blend_hidden=1
  • If successful, you should see icon_blend_hidden=1 in the statusbar for a few seconds.
I will consider enabling this setting by default. For now, it is disabled by default (as file attributes are normally not requested).

Thank you for your fast feedback void!
Just tested it, works great even without indexing attributes.
Thank you.
