Problem reading d:

Post by rightnyer »

Hi, so I have two drives c: and d:. A few days ago, nothing on d: was showing up at all, so I deleted the database file and let it rebuild. Same problem. I just tried fully deleting the Everything folder, and reinstalling it. It says "scanning d:" as if it's building a database, but then only 95 objects showed up. To limit the results, I went to the options box, and unchecked "include in database" for c:. The 144,000 objects from c: then disappeared, but then only 95 objects total (the 95 on d: that work) are listed. In actuality, there are millions of objects on my d: drive. Does anyone have any idea why it's doing this? Thanks much.

Any error log in the Everything directory?
Run a CHKDSK?

"5/29/2011 8:44:26 AM: Everything 1.2.1.371: .\src\db.cpp(18251): db::_update_drive(): DeviceIoControl(0x00000210,FSCTL_READ_USN_JOURNAL,0x0361fb54,40,0x0361ff7c,65536,0x0361fb50,0x00000000): GetLastError(): 21"

This is everything that appears. Thanks. As for Chkdsk, you mean run the DOS version of it?

Update to "Everything" version 1.2.1.451a. That should resolve the issue.

CHKDSK probably not needed.
But yes, like from DOS, or the Window eivalent.
