Shortcut key to see the previous search?

Post by burgundy »

Is there a shortcut key to see the previous search?

The address bar has a drop-down which shows all the previous searches but I would like to do this through the keyboard.

ALT+UP or ALT+DOWN used in the address bar shows the drop down which is close to what I want but I would like to issue the shortcut with the cursor in the results list if possible.

Can this be done?

Thank you for any information.

Or CTRL+Z (when in search bar).

Thanks guys but I would like a shortcut key which immediately lists the previous search ... and when pressed again it shows the search before that. Etc.

Is there a way to make a custom shortcut key which will do this? I can't find a command to do this action.

Alt + Left Arrow will set the search to the previous search.

Does this help?

MS Word has the ability to rewind typing until even the moment the document is opened. This feature is missing in Everything. Everything behaves like the ctrl+z of Notepad. I think it will be an improvement to make it like MS Word.
I'm talking just about ctrl+z/ctrl+y when the focus is on the search bar.

Thanks for the suggestion Stamimail,

I have put on my TODO list to add search edit multiple undo history (Ctrl + Z/Ctrl + Y).

How can I do the same action (mentioned above) in version 1.5?

Alt-LeftArrow (and Alt-RightArrow) works fine for me in 1.5. History needs to be enabled in the Options.

One thing that doesn't work for me is the way items are consigned to history. This seems to happen when you move the focus out of the search bar (e.g. you click in the results pane).
However in practice I do a search and use the mouse wheel over the results to see eg pics, then do another search and the same, and because the focus does not move from the search bar, the different searches are not assigned to history and I can't go back to them as I often want to.
* Can I suggest that mouse-wheeling the results also assigns the search bar text to history.
Cheers, David

That's useful. Thank you.

Unfortunately the history entries which this shows are lost when the app is re-launched.

I suspect it's not difficult to change Everything to make these commands to include the history of search entries from former sessions. If you see what I mean!

I will consider adding the current search to the navigation history when changing the view or scrolling the view (mousewheel).

Thank you for the suggestion.
