I have a new computer with a fairly small SSD, so I now have 3 external drives connected to it. Not ideal, maybe I want to find a way around that. But that's a different matter. In the meantime - Everything is only indexing the SSD plus 2 of my 3 external drives. How do I get it to look at the third as well?
And btw, if I unplug one of them and plug it into a new usb, or I exchange the one that's indexed with the one that's not indexed, does that change anything?
all my external drives arent indexed
Re: all my external drives arent indexed
Everything will index NTFS volumes by default.
Please make sure all your NTFS volumes are included in your index:
Everything will keep your folder indexes under Tools -> Options -> Folders, even when they are offline.
To keep offline NTFS volumes in your index:
Please make sure all your NTFS volumes are included in your index:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the NTFS tab.
- For each NTFS volume in the list:
- Check Include in database.
- Click OK.
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Folders tab.
- Click Add....
- Select your external drive and click OK.
- Click OK.
Everything 1.4 will only keep online NTFS volumes in your index by default. And btw, if I unplug one of them and plug it into a new usb, or I exchange the one that's indexed with the one that's not indexed, does that change anything?

Re: all my external drives arent indexed
thanks! you mentioned a distinction between NTFS and other. Do I need to figure out whether my externals are NTFS? Or can I just follow these steps regardless? I'll do so when home.
Re: all my external drives arent indexed
Everything | Options | Indexes,
FAT & NTFS should show the respective drives found for each.
So if a particular external is not shown in NTFS, it should be found in FAT (assuming it is one of those & not something else entirely, like a Linux based drive, which you'd have to add as a Folder Index).

If your drive is NTFS, it will be listed under Tools -> Options -> NTFS.
Indexing as NTFS is faster and more reliable.
For all other drive types, you will need to add the drive as a folder index under Tools -> Options -> Folders.
To determine the file system type:
