I copied my whole Everything folder from one computer to another in local network.
When I start Everything on the second new computer I expected that Everything detects and reads the preferences from local Everything.ini file.
But this is not the case.
Many settings are completely different than on the first computer.
Why does Everything ignore these settings.ini file?

Everything does not recognize settings in local Everything.ini file
Re: Everything does not recognize settings in local Everything.ini file
When the Everything.ini in the program folder contains a setting appdata=1, a second Everything.ini extists with the majority of your settings.
This second Everything.ini is located in %APPDATA%\Everything, which usually translates to c:\users\your_name\Appdata\Roaming\Everything.
Before copying this file over to %APPDATA%\Everything on your new computer, make sure Everything is not running on that machine (Everything will overwrite the file on exit)

Re: Everything does not recognize settings in local Everything.ini file
Ok, thank you.
The file Everything.ini contains NO such line.
In an older Everything.ini backup I found the line
app_data=0
(WITH Underscore).
Is appdata or app_data correct?
Whats the default value in absence of app_data line?
Can I simply manually add app_data=0 line to force Everything to use the settings in this *.ini file?

Re: Everything does not recognize settings in local Everything.ini file
If there is no app_data=1 (*with* underscore; you are correct), there is just one Everything.ini that contains all your settings.
No need to add app_data=0.
Size of your Everything.ini should be around 21 KB.
Your method should work. What settings are different? Indexing-settings is to be expected as there are new drives involved.
But things like bookmarks, filters, colours, keyboard shortcuts and other settings from the Options dialog should come over OK.
