ETP server disconnects after I close the search window

Hi Guys,

Everything is gr8 little program for searching and i've been very impressed with it.
However, there is one little issue...I've made a ETP server (with login & password) on one of my computer and i'm using other computer to connect to it. The connection is successful but as soon as I close the search window, the ETP server disconnects. Is there any way to have this connection as permanent and connect automatically at startup, also so that I can use this ETP connection when performing search through HTTP ?

The ETP connection is disconnected when you close the window.
You will need to reconnect each time you create a new window.

You can currently connect to an ETP server when you start "Everything" with the command line option -connect <host>.
However, you can not set the username, password or port number with this.

I plan to change the -connect <host> command line option to start "Everything" with -connect <user:password@host:port>

Should creating a new Everything window inherit the old window ETP connection?

^^yeah, I guess making it an option would be the logical step...
Just make sure this ETP server connection can be used through HTTP interface...

Still would love to see this option - it's a pain having to manually connect to the ETP server every time I want to do a search...

Hello,
I'm using everything for a while now and I don't even understand how I was living without it before.
Actually I'm using it and love it, and this even if I don't use 10% of it's features.

I use multiple instances of everything in my computer in a LAN, all as administrator, not as service.
One instance is for the local computer, others are used connected on ETP server. (Hosts and ports, no username or password, Link type=\\Server\C)
It works great, but only once after start, until I close the search window.
Each time I reopen the search window (with either show window hotkey or clicking in the tray), I have to re-connect to the ETP server (Connect to ETP server).
Is there an option to simply stay connected, and so I simply have to Refresh (F5) in case there are changes?
Or something coming?

To always connect to an ETP server when opening a new window:

• In "Everything" from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Home tab.
• Change Index to ETP server.
• Change ETP server to username:password@host:port
  For example, connect to server with the default port and no username password: server
  For example, connect to server on port 12345 with no username password: server:12345
  For example, connect to server on port 12345 with the username "admin" password "qwerty": admin:qwerty@server:12345
• Set the desired Link type.
• Click OK.

Note: Requires Everything 1.3 or later.
