ET won't search Documents folder located on server

Post by cb668 »

On our business system we have everyone's "Documents" folder located on our server. The path to that is \\srvr.local\users\Mydocuments$\username\Documents\. I have tried many of the posted solutions in order to get ET to search this folder but to no avail and I could use some help. Here are solutions I've tried unsuccessfully.
1) Run as correct user, not admin (verified not running as admin)
2) Run ET as service (yes, running as a service)
3) Add folder to search in options (when added to the folders tab, no search results show up at all)

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

So if you perform a search of: \\srvr.local
nothing turns up?
3) Add folder to search in options
To clarify, you added your directory as a Folder Index (Tools | Options | Indexes -> Folders)?

Can you open \\srvr.local or \\srvr.local\users\Mydocuments$\username\Documents\ from Window Explorer?

username, I suppose is specific to a user.
So you indexed each users /username/Documents/ individually, or .../Mydocuments$/ to catch them all?
(And in the Index settings, it is set to scan subdirectories?)

Thanks for your prompt feedback and questions for clarification. I verified all the settings again (they were correct). So, uninstalled/reinstalled and re-applied the settings. When I added the folder and hit rescan, I initially saw the same behavior at first and then after several seconds a message in the status bar stated that ET was scanning the folder so I let it go for a while. After about 8 minutes the scan completed and showed the files. I believe the problem was a combination of an ET installation problem and our server is very slow. Thanks for the questions, they helped me get it working.
