v1.3.0.632b search results shows duplicate results
v1.3.0.632b search results shows duplicate results
OK I've done something and know not what. Now when I search I see duplicate entries in the search results. Yesterday for the first time I created a DB, when I open Everything in Xplorer2 (file manage) I right-clicked on a folder and selected Everything. Everything opened the DB and after several minutes (I'm guessing 20 minutes, yes good grief - very long time) Everything presented the results but everything is listed twice. Any suggestions?

Make sure there are no folders indexed with Everything.
To remove all indexed folders:
To remove all indexed folders:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Folders tab.
- Use the Remove button to remove all the folders.
- Click OK.

Great, removing the indexed folders resolved the issue.

Agh! Then I think there must be something I don't understand about the FOLDER feature? Firstly, my duplicates are not located within the folder list. And I had to use the FOLDER feature in order to include files that I need to find, which for some reason are left out - because I have an EXCLUDE directory (=WINDOWS), and have HIDDEN STUFF off and SYSTEM STUFF off (1).
I know this is hard to picture correctly without a map - but at least it's documented if anyone is interested. I'm thinking that excluding the C:\WINDOWS folder probably is throwing things off because you can't treat system objects in Windows like common objects - at least not without having stuff like this happen.
I'll post back to narrow it down to a single (?) fault.
(1) Maybe that's the reason - not copacetic to both exclude a system directory and turn its display off? Just a guess.

FALSE ALARM - there were no duplicate files - just duplicate filenames in different directories.
Maybe noting that turning off System and Hidden does not exclude Windows nor Program Files directories (presumably other directories).
That's it!
Thanks
