Hello!
I LOVE everything. I've been using it for a couple years now. It's definitely one of the top 10 programs of all time. And I mean it!
I bought a 2TB drive a few days ago and Everything "sometimes" works on that drive, and sometimes doesn't. I haven't been able to find a specific reason. I'm wondering if it has to do with the size of the drive...?
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Everything v1.2.1.371
Running as Administrator.
The drive doesn't have an unreasonable number of files on it - current file count is 3558.
I've noticed that when it is working, and I copy a file to the drive, it'll mark the file with the "right now" date. If I close and restart Everything, sometimes it'll index the drive and sometimes it'll skip over it really quickly. If it indexes, the files I just copied are marked with the proper date.
It's a brand-new drive, so I doubt there are any errors on it. SMART information says everything is OK thus far.
There is no errorlog.txt in the Everything folder.
That's all I can think of for now...
Thanks again for such a wonderful and thorough time-saving tool!
Intermittently working on my new 2TB drive
Re: Intermittently working on my new 2TB drive
Does Everything occasionally not find any files on this drive?I've noticed that when it is working, and I copy a file to the drive, it'll mark the file with the "right now" date. If I close and restart Everything, sometimes it'll index the drive and sometimes it'll skip over it really quickly. If it indexes, the files I just copied are marked with the proper date.
Does it find the root at all? (check by searching for : your drive should appear in the result list).
Unfortunately, Everything does not monitor file sizes and dates, you have to hit F5 to refresh this cached information.
Re: Intermittently working on my new 2TB drive
Yeah. Sorry, I didn't exactly state what my main issue is -- on seemingly-random occasion, Everything doesn't show any results at all for files on the new drive.
As of this very moment it's working great (I recently rebooted my machine).
When I search for ":" the drive does show up. Thanks, I'll use that trick next time to help debug.
Aside from the error log, is there any useful info I can provide?
