Other programs?
Other programs?
On the theory that people who love Everything are clearly smarter than everyone else, I thought I'd ask for recommendations of any other programs that you find exceptionally useful.
Re: Other programs?
The 'ol "what's in your garage" question.
So just what is in your garage?
Common sense.
Without that, nothing else matters.
(It's good to have someone to clue you in when you fail to use common sense. Some know that, by experience.)
Do you vote?
Who did you vote for?
(I'm not looking for answer, but it does relate to the above comment.)

Re: Other programs?
A file manager.
A browser. "Protection" for that browser. (Protection for you from that browser.)
Everything.
An OS.
An editor (or two).
All else is (almost) ancillary.

Re: Other programs?
Thanks for these suggestions. Proving that great minds think alike, I've used about 80% of these.
I never tried 7+ Taskbar Tweaker but it looks interesting and I think I will.
I'll also re-try Quick Access Popup. I remember thinking it was impressive and I don't remember why I stopped using it.
It's an idiosyncratic suggestion and probably few people need them but I find these programs very useful for stripping the formatting from text:
https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-ways-to ... t-windows/
For desktop search I like DTSearch, and while it's not free, they haven't succumbed to the ridiculous rent-forever "SAAS" rip-off system, which should probably be illegal. You only pay once.
For desktop search I also like File Locator Pro, except that it also isn't free, and does repeatedly charge for "major" updates.
Portable File Renamer 1.2.4.3 is also very useful and not too confusing.

Re: Other programs?
What happened to Listary?
A browser is exceptionally useful, but browserA is unlikely exceptionally better than browserB.
So I guess you are not looking for browser, editors, music players, etc. Right?
My list contains mostly tools that dive into the inner workings of Windows, so not very useful for most.
for the rest, the following came first to mind:
- Textify ( copy text from everywhere and send it to application). Member tuska has written extensively about it on this forum )
- Don't Sleep (if you want to prevent stand-by at all costs because of a large download, for example)
- SUDO (command-line tool to run things elevated; self-written, for others gsudo will be better)
(Will add links and more tools later)
Re: Other programs?
"right?"
Yeah, that's true, unless it's something so good that nothing else compares. Personally, I'm basically most interested in officework-type productivity programs that let you find things, organize things, access things, conduct and organize research, fix simple/common computer problems (e.g. Process Hacker) and write things with cites more easily and quickly. Preferably non-cloud and offline capable with privacy as a priority.
I think it's another testament to the Hall of Fame status of Everything that while many of the programs listed here are good, none, in my opinion, come close to matching the category-killing brilliance of Everthing.
I tried Listary years ago and vastly preferred Everything.
