Re: No thumbnail for .MOD files
Thank you.
Now we know the class: mplayerc64.mp4
I am assuming mp4 files show thumbnails and preview OK.
Same thing again with:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mplayerc64.mp4
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VLC.mod\ShellEx (or HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mod\ShellEx)
Thumbnail handler: {E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96}
Preview Handler: {8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f}

We need to see the thumbnail handler and preview handler for mp4 files:
- From the Start menu, search for:
regedit - Right click Registry Editor and click Run as administrator.
- In the Registry Editor, navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mplayerc64.mp4\ShellEx - Could you please export this full key and post it in your reply.
Re: No thumbnail for .MOD files
I did not find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mplayerc64.mp4\ShellEx but the is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mplayerc64.mp4\Shell which is this
But I noticed one thing that I am using K-Lite Codec Pack 17.8.5 and .MOD extension is not included (I think) , could it be the reason?
Thank you

Re: No thumbnail for .MOD files
Thank you for the information.
.mod is associated with VLC and .mp4 with mplayerc64.
VLC doesn't appear to support thumbnails or previews for .mod files.
I am still missing the preview handler for your MP4 files.
I'm not sure what to try for .mod files..
In the registry, what is listed under:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mp4
Please try the following:
In the registry editor (running as admin), create the following key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mod\ShellEx\{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96}
Set the (default) value data to: {c5aec3ec-e812-4677-a9a7-4fee1f9aa000}
(this sets the thumbnail handler to mplayerc64)
create the following key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mod\ShellEx\{8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f}
Set the (default) value data to: {9DBD2C50-62AD-11D0-B806-00C04FD706EC}
(this sets the preview handler to the stock Windows preview handler for videos)
-You could also try mplayerc64 with the data value: {c5aec3ec-e812-4677-a9a7-4fee1f9aa000}
(I'm unsure if mplayerc64 has a preview handler)
Hit F5 in Everything and see if thumbnails/previews work for .mod files.

Re: No thumbnail for .MOD files
Hello,
Sorry for the delay in replying, actually I restarted my laptop now and checked the list and the thumbnails showed up. Thank you for your patience.
But in any case I have sent a .MOD file to the support email as requested because while searching for a solution I noticed that this is a common problem with windows explorer that thumbnails are showing for all types of videos except .MOD.
Thank you again and Best Regards.

Re: No thumbnail for .MOD files
Hello,
I tried the same setting (reg values you provided) with other extensions like psd and tga which are opened with image viewers, and I just restated Everything and all thumbnails became available.
You are great.
Thanks a lot again.
