Is the hidden folder $Extend (which is present in all drives) knowingly kept out of Everything search list. I was just checking upon the disk occupation with Wiztree , and almost all the hidden files mentioned there also finds a place in Everything except this. Of course the folder does not open when tried from the program itself or it is a protected system folder...

Yes, Everything will exclude this folder since you can not access it like a normal file.
Everything sees that the parent FRN of $Extend is not a valid folder in the file system so excludes it.
