Right Click
Right Click
When I find a file I want and right click on it to open with..... Everything crashes. Could someone help? Thanks.
Re: Right Click
What version of Everything are you running? (see Help, About) If it is not 1.2.1.371 or later then you need to update to that one here http://www.voidtools.com/
If it is 371 does the crash only happen when right clicking from Everything search results? David may have some ideas, but answering these questions will help get started.

Re: Right Click
Please replace your Everything.exe with the following unofficial beta to workaround the problem:
http://www.voidtools.com/Everything-1.2.1.375b.zip

Re: Right Click
I'm afraid this isn't working. Clicking on an object [in Everything's find list] to open it always crashes the program!David wrote:Please replace your Everything.exe with the following unofficial beta to workaround the problem:

Moving the object causes no problems.
Re: Right Click
This is a known issue and should be fixed for the next release of "Everything".
Please try the early beta http://www.voidtools.com/Everything-1.2.1.413b.zip
This should fix the problem.

Re: Right Click
Hi!
Tried this latest beta.
However, double-clicking it opens an object but Everything then crashes...

Re: Right Click
Does http://www.voidtools.com/Everything-1.2.1.414b.zip fix the problem?
Re: Right Click

Re: Right Click
Please send the debug text from "Everything" after the crash.
To run "Everything" in debug mode:
To run "Everything" in debug mode:
- Run Everything.exe with the -debug command line option.
- For example:
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.exe -debug
- Right click the debug window.
- Click Select all.
- Right click to copy the selected text to the clipboard.
Re: Right Click
Please note that Everything fails to connect to voidtools.com probably because I'm behind a firewall which requires authentication in this location.

Re: Right Click
Hi, I get the same issue and can reproduce all the time.
I am on windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits and the issue occurs on a fresh Windows 7 install.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open Everything, type a search term that you know will yield several results.
2) Right click one of the results. Do not select any action from the right click menu.
3) Right click a different result. Do not select any action from the right click menu.
4) Right click the initial result again (the one you selected in Step 2).
5) Repeat steps 2 to 4. After a few times Everything crashes.
Note that I usually experience this issue without doing this back and forth right clicking, I mean after I used Everything for a few searches but then left it idle for a while, Everything will crash upon the first right click I will do after that point during a search.
I tried v1.2.1.317, 1.2.1.416b and 1.2.1.436a with the same result, it crashes on those three versions I tested.
The only fix I found so far is to run Everything in Windows XP compatibility mode.
I ran everything in debug mode but unfortunately, Windows 7 does not let me copy the window output directly when Everything crashes, however I took a screenie of the output window, here it is.

Re: Right Click
Please try the latest alpha version "Everything" version 1.2.1.442a.
If it still crashes please try adding the following line to the end of your Everything.ini file:

Re: Right Click
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I still get the crash with the new build .442, with or without adding the "context_menu_type=1" line to my Everything.ini file. Anyways, not a big deal now that I have a workaround (running in windows XP compatibility mode I get no crash at all)
