Real Time Updating

Post by diego898 »

Hello,

I have installed search everything but it doesnt seem to be monitoring my filesystem in real time. When I click on the options and go to "Indexes", the field "Database Location" is empty. When I navigate to "Indexes-->Folders" I have added my home folder C:\Users\myName and have it automtically update every night at 3:00AM. I also have "attempt to monitor changes" selected. However, when I add new files to folders under my home directory, even after several hours search everything does not see them. I have to go to options and click the "Update Now" button under the "Indexes-->Folders" screen. How can I fix this?

Also, I have checked "starty everything on system startup" but how can I verify its running with admin privileges?

Thanks

When I click on the options and go to "Indexes", the field "Database Location" is empty
This is location where Everything stores it's database. Leave it blank to let Everything decide where to store your Everything.db file, or
change it to a folder of your choice. This wont effect what Everything will index.

Please try the latest beta and install the Everything service.
but how can I verify its running with admin privileges?
To run Everything as administrator on Windows Vista or later (not required if you have installed the Everything service):
  • Right click an Everything shortcut.
  • Click Properties
  • Click the Compatibility tab
  • Check Run as Administrator.
  • Click OK.
When you run Everything as an administrator or with the service installed, Everything will automatically index all your NTFS volumes.
If you have these volumes already added as folder indexes they will appear as duplicates in the results.

To remove all folder indexes:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Remove each folder.
  • Click OK.
