Hello!
Will Junction Points, Hardklinks etc. will be supported in the future? Or is there already an option for it?
Everything doesn't show me results from Junction Folder nor Hardlinks.
One example for Win 7 x86:
Search for wmpshare.exe. Everything shows only one result located at C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-mediaplayer-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_0b401942b06d4f06\.
But there's also a Hardlink of the file in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\ which isn't listed.
It would be nice to have this included because Win 7 use a lot of Junction Point, Hardlinks,...
Best regards!
Junction Points, Hardlinks,...
Re: Junction Points, Hardlinks,...
Junction points will be indexed and monitored.
Only the first hardlink of a file will be indexed and monitored.
Files that are not the first hardlink will not be indexed or monitored.
This is a limitation of the USN Change Journal.
I have plans to index all hard links in the future.
However, you will have to update the indexes manually as the USN Change Journal does not support hardlinks.

HI David!
Thanks for the reply. That's good news!
I'm not sure what you mean with "you will have to update the indexes manually" though.

Re: Junction Points, Hardlinks,...
The USN Change Journal is used to monitor file system changes.
Since the USN Change Journal does not correctly monitoring hard links it is not possible at this time to keep the database up-to-date realtime.
You would have to re-indexing all your hardlinks to update the database. (This could be quite slow depending on the number of hardlinks)
Re-indexing could be done manually or possibly by scheduling "Everything" to update daily.
