app occasionally begins returning no results

Post by jeff66 »

v.1.34.686

Win 7 HP 64-bit

Hi, recently, Everything occasionally, not always, will start returning zero results, no matter what is searched for (e.g. txt will give no results). This is always fixed by ending the process and restarting the app.

For me this happens about every 2 or 3 days, if I had to guess.
thanks

(I've seen irregularities, but its only been on a "every so often" basis, not every few days. In my case a restart is not required, more like a change of focus & back or maybe changing a Filter & back, gets it going again.)

When an error occurs during the database rebuild you will end up with an empty database.
A rebuild can be triggered by a change in the USN Journal ID, a drive being plugged in or removed or some other reason..

Check the debug output for the reason for creating an empty database.

Force Everything to rebuild its database:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.

Hmm, I could see it being related to plugging in my external hdd. Every 3 days or so is about how often I plug that in. I'll check soon and see if the two things are related.

thanks

totally related to new hard drive plugin.
Can I set to neglect any of the new hard drives?
Thanks!
PS really love the software, for it has made everyday work easier.
