Menu items shortcut keys (Alt+key) in non-English systems

Post by Stamimail »

Just noticed that Everything doesn't support independent language keyboard input for Menu items shortcut keys.
For example:
I can't use the Alt+S shortcut key to get Menu_Search focused.
I need to use the shortcut key as it set in my language, Alt+NonEnKey.
The problem is that, if I'm using the English keyboard input, I need first to switch to my language to be able to launch this Alt+NonEnKey. Launching this Alt+NonEnKey while the system is in English keyboard input will not work.
Of course, it's annoying and unwanted behaviour.

But, it seems this problem it's actually not only in Evertyhing but in other programs too.
Windows itself (I'm using W7) has this problem.
For exmaple:
In my Windows Explorer the Alt+P shortkey (Preview Pane) works for me only if the keyboard input is set to English...
The only software I found that works as expected was Microsoft Office (Word, Excel ...). No matter what the keyboard input is, the menu shortkeys works.

This might be possible in a future release of Everything.

I have on my plans for Everything 1.5 to rewrite the Everything menu.

I'm glad to here that. Thank you.
I wonder how this issue happened to be in most programs. Probably it's a matter of awareness.

Alt shortcuts will only work when the input language supports ASCII.
