Hi, All:
If is possible for Everything to display the search results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
0.1 second is the typical time for human to feel the system response is immediatly or has delay.
It can feels the result display delayed obviously after typing a letter in Everything. For example, the latest Everything verion 1.4.0.713b has a response time delay feeling nearly to 1 second.
According to the debug informaiton of Everything in my computer, the search time usually arround 0.01 second, but the result display seems has a big delay. Is it possbie to speed up the result display?
Thanks.

Re: Display the results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
I don't particularly know 0.1 vs 1, but 1 second sounds far too slow.
You can open the Debug Console (Ctrl+`) & that will show some timings.
Actual searches should be much faster then 0.1.

Re: Display the results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
The debug console shows the search time is arround 0.01 second.
But the result display in the GUI window seems has big delay, the delay of human feeling may up to 1 second, not immediately.
A similar seach tool "MasterSeeker" has better result display speed, The feeling of result display speed is much faster than Everything.
Do we have a way to increase the search result display speed in Everything?

After Everything has displayed the results, are the results responsive? eg: can you click on them and they highlight immediately?
Have you added any folder indexes in Tools -> Options -> Folders?
Disabling extended_information_cache_monitor may help with this.
Are you using the preview pane?
Please try disabling the preview if you do.
Could you please send me the debug output after performing a search.
Please try Everything 1.4.1, the UI thread no longer attempts to read extended file information:

Re: Display the results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
Hi, The debug file according to your instruction sent to you by mail just now.
The Everything works fine on my PC. Thanks for this excellent tool.
I just want to see if the search result display speed in Everything can more fast or not.
Another search engine"MasterSeeker" can display the search result much faster, human can feel no delay
For example, I type "abc", "MasterSeeker" will dispaly the search result of "a","ab","abc" immediately when I type, the speed feels like a flash. While, For Everything ,when I finished the type of "abc", wait for about 1 second, then "Everything" will show the search result.
The purpose is to improve user experience.

Re: Display the results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
First I think such a discussion about 0.1 seconds delay for a display is nonsense
in the framework of a search tool which avoids minutes of searching.
Also on my system the actual Everything Version 1.4.1.724b (x64) produces no delay if I type something.
So your systems Hardware or software may limit the performance.

Re: Display the results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
MS (1.5.1) seems more "jumpy".
Don't know that its necessarily faster.
If you're seeing a substantial difference between Everything & MS, then something is affecting MS on your end.
With Regex enabled, \d\d\d\d\d\d\d\d\d\d.mp4 was particularly slow in MS.

Re: Display the results in less than 0.1 second after the typing?
On an older, slower computer now, Intel e4300, 2GB RAM, & here MS does appear faster.
At least in Everything, I can type the search sting, & finish it, before any results display.
In MS, each keystroke affects the display.
I have not (& have no intention of) messed with the referenced pref setting, as even on this slow computer, its no issue for me.
Also note that there can be a discrepancy between results being returned (displayed in the window) & the search having completed.
