How to prevent browser from opening a new page?

Post by Debugger »

How do block pop-up ads/website?
Please do not suggest any "AdBlock" (and all other browser add-ons). This blocks ads but non-opening pages in a new tab or in the background.
My computer is not infected, please understand that some popular websites have intrusive ads (eg I click Play [> because I want to watch a movie). It is known, such ads generate income, especially as they are free.

Example:
https://wedeegut.net/975216.html?q (JS/Adware.Agent.AA aplikacja)

My ESET software blocks access to the site, but the window with information still opens.
Website blocked
This website is on the list of sites with potentially dangerous content.

Access has been blocked.

Well "AdBlock" (uBlock) blocks the site, wedeegut.net, from loading.
Since wedeegut.net does not load, none of the sites that it would then redirect to would load either.

(You do get the uBlock warning page that tells you that it blocked the site.)

Without uBlock, if you use a browser with NoScript (so something Mozilla based), then at least JavaScript is blocked from running on those "foreign" (malware) domains (by default), so you're protected in that respect (& while that will not necessarily stop the pages from loading, at least they are mostly likely relatively benign at that point).

„AdBlock” (uBlock) - I've used it, but I do not use it because of constant problems, and it does not load something, and it blocks something wrong, and the buttons do not work, massacre, as I have already many reported problems with these plugins on forum. Never again!
AdGuard - it exceeds the possibilities
The world's most advanced ad blocker!
, moreover - I have no problems with it, and even blocks most of the ads compared to AdBlock, uOrigin etc.
I have peace with ads on websites.
If you know how to configure AdGuard https://kb.adguard.com/en/general/how-t ... ad-filters, add specific pages to the blacklist, I would be grateful for the answer.

Unfortunately, I do not use NoScript, because almost all pages that I visit require enabled Script.

LOL, I installed it and it does not block everything!
I still have unwanted ads (pop-up in separate tabs)

So it doesn't work on your system but it works perfect on my machine.
Almost none advertisings or pop-ups.

Almost none
-> It makes a big difference!

I have filters for hundreds of thousands of pages, but it has been missing filters for some sites.

In a Mozilla browser, you can set (the about:config) Pref, dom.popup_allowed_events, to "".
(Default is; "change click dblclick mouseup notificationclick reset submit touchend".)

That can help.
Again won't catch all cases.
And may end up being overly broad, in that there will be times when you want, need, expect a popup, & that too will be blocked.
(Though you should get a warning message, with the option to unblock the particular popup, on a 1 time basis.)

Unfortunately, I do not use Firefox.
Only Chrome and Slimjet (chromium-like).
Maybe something can be changed in:
AdBlock -> Options (many different options are)
https://getadblock.com/

This is not a pop-up window, only a pop-up page in another tab.
Example:
voidtools.com
google.com
facebook.com
-or-
blablabla.com

For example, do not display a blocked page in a new tab?
Well, really any. How to do it?!
Block the domain and any address associated with it and do not display!

AdBlock only blocks advertisements on the website or elements on the page, in no case solves the problems of automatically opening pages in tabs!
I checked all "Blockers". I will not name names because everyone knows that there are a lot of them and everyone will say: "try this ...", use this... " and nobody will even check if it actually works, in these cases!

Therefore, now there is some correction:
AdBlock
Block Site - Website Blocker

Of course, it blocks the page, but it's still bad!
Because it opens its own page with the extension, which contradicts the operation of this tool! I wrote this extension to help, but I doubt if someone will give me an answer.

:x He receives such messages from the technical support of various products:
"Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable the message in the new tab that the page has been blocked."
