Indexing files on USB stick attached to wi-fi router

Post by burgundy »

Can Everything index music files on a USB memory stick which is plugged into my wi-fi router?

I am new to this area and am not sure what to do with the information in the thread viewtopic.php?t=1782

Below I describe my setup.

----------

I have downloaded music files to a USB memory stick, formatted as FAT32, which is plugged in to my wi-fi router.

I can access the music files on the USB stick from WinXP by using an entry in My Network Places" for \\192.168.1.1\sonos\SanDisk07811335.

My Sonos music system can also access the music files and seems to automatically provide a stored account name and password.

Everything does not list the USB volume. I notice there is an entry in Everything's Options for a "HTTP Server". is this what I have?

How can I make Everything index the music files? I have no idea how to start!

You will not need the Everything HTTP server. The Everything HTTP server is unrelated, please leave it disabled.

To add your USB stick on your wi-fi router to your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your \\192.168.1.1\sonos\SanDisk07811335 and click OK.
  • Click OK.
