I've got local volumes mapped to drive letters, something like C:/docs&settings/mydocs/videos could be mapped to "V:/"
Is it possible to allow me to search from the V:/ rather than typing/opening the full path?
Besides that everything is great.
Cheers

Re: Local volumes mapped
I have added support for subst drives for the next release of "Everything".
You can test this now with the latest alpha release of "Everything".

Re: Local volumes mapped
Doesnt seem to be working in my case. Is it something I have to turn on or set up in the options? Nothing in there is striking me as the obvious switch to turn it on though.
Re: Local volumes mapped
A SUBST'd "drive" appears to act as if it were a removable drive & so needs to be manually told to Monitor changes.
Everything Options | Volumes -> Monitor changes (enable) -> Apply
(Perhaps not technically correct, but check the Options settings & the SUBST drive should be searchable.)

Re: Local volumes mapped
Still no luck. Are we talking about the same thing?
I'm sharing a folder on the network and then using "Tools -> Map Network Dive" in explorer, to give that folder a root drive letter. (the source folders and mapped letters are all on the same machine)
Is there a better way of achieving the same thing, so that it will work with everything from that to level drive letter? Besides creating new partitions for each?
Its not a big concern, I can still search the files from their real location. I just wondered if there was something obvious I was missing to make things a bit easier/quicker.

Re: Local volumes mapped
What you're describing now is different from what you described initially. (At least the way I read it.)
In your second description, you say you are "Mapping" (aka NET USE) a network drive. That is different & will not work.
FAQ: 1.10 Can "Everything" index a mapped network drive?
What you initially described, & the way I did it (using SUBST) does work."Everything" will only locate files and folders on local NTFS volumes.

Re: Local volumes mapped
I was using map network drive, though the volume and drive map was all local.
But I'd not come across subst before. that looks like it will fix everything.
thanks
