The scan never completes.

When I start Everything Search, it hangs "Scanning (c:). The scan never completes. If I try to close the program, it hangs. It used to work fine, but now no longer works. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling and I've rebooted. Any other suggestions?

It's been a while & I don't really recall the diagnostics to try, but (& in no particular order) ...

Check you HDD for errors (CHKDSK)

Exit Everything
Remove its database, Everything.{name}.db
Restart Everything

Check to see if there happens to be an Everything error log

Exit Everything
(Backup first) then rename Everything.ini to something like Everything.ini.OLD
Restart Everything

Thanks "therube"! You nailed it - the problem was a failing hard drive. I replaced it and I'm up and running again!
