Shift-delete Folder Bar folder ignores the shift

Post by meteorquake »

Shift delete (whether keyboard or right-click-menu) in the results list gives a prompt to confirm a hard-delete

However shift-delete in the Folder Bar ignores shift and adopts a recycle policy, and I think should account for the shift modifier just as the results list does.

(I notice yet again Windows has reverted to "recycle without prompt" when the delete key is pressed... I always turn that prompt on because it's crazy to recycle/delete something due to an accidental key bump but windows updates at times seem to switch it off again until I notice and switch it on... perhaps I need to create a computer startup script that checks the setting...)

Interesting - I'm using 1383a but I'd be surprised if it was a novel thing in that version. I wonder if anyone else can test it on 1383a! d

Since you clued me in that there was a 1383, I (now) can ;-).
I see the same (as with 1382), expected behavior in 1383 (x86) - again, Windows 7, DEL soft deletes, Shift+DEL hard deletes.

PS: What OS are you using (& I suppose, version at that)?

'Everything' 1.5.0.1383a (x64) works for me as expected in
Windows 11 Pro (x64) version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3810) - 25/06/2024.

Shift clicking Delete from the context menu doesn't permanently delete.
I'll have this fixed in the next alpha update.

Is Everything not seeing your Shift key as down?
Please try Shift + Right clicking a folder.
Is the Expand All/Collapse All context menu item shown?

Please try pressing and releasing the Left and Right Shift key.

Have you rebound Shift + Delete?
