Everything random crash when selected 9 files to add to a zip file

Just encountered a problem selecting 9 files and adding it to a zip file using right click context menu 'add to archive'. Everything crashed when right clicking to bring up context menu.

• In Process Explorer, select Everything.exe (If there is two, select the one using the most memory)

I think it was due to the fact of a very long path name -- because when I clicked on properties of one of the files, it had a //?/ in the beginning of the path name

That was Windows Explorer (Properties) showing it that way?
Or were you within (Windows, I guess it is) "ZIP" utility that show show it?

yes it is, I'm using windows 10 x64

yes, I right clicked and selected properties and in the beginning of the path name, a prefix "//?/" was shown

How long?

it is quite long, I believe over 255 characters perhaps. Although i removed that character limit with windows using regedit

I am not sure that is the cause, I archive a bunch of stuff and I pour sometimes too much into a filename and have never had a crash.
But if I understand this correctly, this is add to archive from Explorer.
I only use 7-Zip, you may have better luck there. Of course if it's a bug it should be fixed, but in the meantime it might be better to switch to more compatible software.
